The office is ready for us to put the flooring down. First step is to clean, clean, clean the floor.
I moved all of our building stuff out of the Office and into the Trophy Room. I didn't put anything away because I am not sure where everything goes in Bill's Workshop. So it is there until he has time to put it away.
After sweeping I took a big scraper and scraped the entire floor. Followed by the Shop Vac. Did this three times.
The spot where the floor safe used to be needed to be leveled just a bit. The best thing for sanding concrete is a brick. Rubbed and rubbed until this spot is perfectly level.
After all the fine drywall dust had been vacuumed by the Shop Vac I brought in the vacuum system. It made floor almost clean enough to eat off of. Love my vacuum.
Then the Hurricane Mop came into play. Washed the entire floor. Now I can see some additional spots that will need some attention from the scraper. Do we need to go to these extremes? No, but we overdo everything. All the flooring we have pulled up from rent houses we know professional installers do not take the time to clean like this.
When the drywall mud that was on the floor got wet it turned a dirty brown color. That helped me in determining if it was old white paint that could stay or if it needed a bit more elbow grease to get it up.
It looks so pretty when wet. The next thing I will need to do is wash the floor with a Muriatic Acid solution. This will ever so slightly etch the concrete for the glue to attach better. I won't do that until Bill is ready to tackle this project.
Wipe your feet before coming into the Office. I have clean floors.
