Our extended family starts the holiday season off by celebrating Christmas on Thanksgiving afternoon. It's a wonderful way that our family celebration doesn't get swept up and missed; with everything else going on in December.
We exchange names between cousins and couple names for us siblings. My sister, Jennifer, and her husband, Bryan, had our name this year and she is one of those wonderful gift givers who think outside the box and always comes up with the unique gift that you really need.
She gave us motion sensor lights for our, as she put it, cavernous home. Put one in the West Wing so we don't have to turn on 8 fluorescent lights just to walk to where my kitchen stuff is stored. And one above the garage door and now when we have people come in they can actually see and don't have to feel their way to our apartment front door. Although it was great training in case either one of us ends up going blind.
We had one light already in the laundry/pantry area that is used all day long. We loved windows before and after living without them in several areas of the apartment we may go overboard when we are building out. Need and crave natural light.
