Not a One Dimensional World

Came home today and I became very excited. The rock mason was here and starting work. You have to understand how this type of contractor works. They come, they start the job, they leave, they come back, they leave. They keep you on the hook and you know that at some point the job will be finished. It is very difficult picky work, so they will have several jobs going at a time and they take breaks while the masonry is curing at one job to work on another job. Bill, the mason, started dimensionalising the rock today. He will work on this for several days in between other jobs. This way when he starts putting  rock up he has a bunch stockpiled and doesn't have to stop and prep rock with wet mason.  This was the first little bit of work that I got so excited about. Doesn't look like much but is huge.

Dimensionalizing is taking a flat faced rock and with the rock hammer knocking the edges off. It gives the rock a natural face. The mason will also square up the rock. This rock is not a cut rock with perfectly straight edges but it can't have big bumps sticking out.
Working away. He will work all that rock behind him and just as much that is being stored across the drive.
